PostHeaderIcon How To Identify The Symptoms Of Panic Attacks And Panic Disorders

Panic and anxiety attacks are problems that affect a large number of people. They can be somewhat scary but for most people they are relatively mild and don’t occur all that often. A panic attack may happen a few times, but it is usually not a chronic problem.
Panic disorders, on the other hand, can be much more severe. People who suffer from these disorders live in constant fear and anxiety, for ongoing periods of time.
The symptoms of isolated panic attacks and chronic disorder are much the same. A disorder is more difficult to deal with because part of what makes it worse is the constant worrying about when the next attack will come. This makes the attack that much more severe, and the viscious cycle continues to get worse.
Panic disorder needs to be treated as quickly as possible. If it isn’t treated properly, it will continue to escalate and can lead to a condition called agoraphobia, where the sufferer remains housebound because of their fear of having an attack while in public situations.
These panic disorders affect a wide age group. They can show up in the teenage years right through adulthood. Major stresses or changes in a person’s life can sometimes trigger them. The effects of panic can range from mild to very serious, in some cases causing social withdrawal and the earlier mentioned agoraphobia.
Symptoms of both panic attacks and panic disorders include the following:
- Chest pains
- Dizziness and/or lightheadedness
- Elevated heartbeat
- Shortness of breath
- Nausea and other stomach problems
- Shaking or trembling
- Difficulty breathing
- Tingling sensation in your extremeties
Panic disorders also often include the following symptoms:
- Lingering worry
- Fear of the next panic attack
- Depression
- Social withdrawal
While the symptoms of panic attacks and disorders are similar, the effect they can have on a person’s life is vastly different. In either case, however, it is best to discuss the problem with your doctor. They will be able to give you a more thorough diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment plan.

PostHeaderIcon Stress and Anxiety - Use Hypnotherapy to Overcome Them and Find Peace

Now more than ever, scientific surveys are attesting the primary role played by stress in triggering or aggravating different physical and emotional afflictions. In the June 6, 1983 issue of Time Magazine, the cover story labeled stress “The Epidemic of the Eighties.” It also said that stress is our leading health problem. Indeed one has to recognize that our world has become a lot more complicated and stressful in the last two decades since that article was written.

Numerous surveys indicate that almost everybody is under the impression of being subject to a lot of stress. Authorities in the field estimate that between 75 and 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians somehow have to do with stress.

Most people report their stress is primarily due to their job. And stress levels have also grown in children and the elderly population because of several reasons including: Peer pressures that often push people to everything from smoking to alcoholism and drug abuse; the wearing away of religion and family values; increased crime rates; threats to personal safety; and last but not least social isolation and loneliness.

Stress can cause and aggravate conditions such as diabetes, ulcers, low back and neck pain, high blood pressure, strokes and heart attacks. This is due to the ever growing sympathetic nervous system activity along with a high level of cortisol, adrenaline, and other hormones. Chronic stress is often associated with lower immune system resistance. Stress can contribute to anxiety, depression, and its various effects on the body’s organs.

The following definition for “stress” can be found in the American Heritage Dictionary:

“To subject to physical or mental pressure, tension, or strain”

The following is the definition of “tension” from the same dictionary:

“Mental, emotional, or nervous strain”

The following definition is given for “anxiety”:

“A state of uneasiness and apprehension, as about future uncertainties”

And the following is the definition of “depression”:

“The condition of feeling sad or despondent”

The following is the definition of “clinical depression”:

“A psychiatric disorder characterized by an inability to concentrate, insomnia, loss of appetite, anhedonia, feelings of extreme sadness, guilt, helplessness and hopelessness, and thoughts of death.”

One thing is for sure, our mind is the first source of our feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. Put differently, what we think about, and our attitudes and points of view about our experiences create our feelings. That way, if we can learn how to change our thoughts, attitudes, and points of view, we can get rid of our feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression and change them for a more positive state of being.

Since the beginning of time, people have tried to find methods that would allow them to eliminate stress. With the pharmaceutical industry there seems to be a drug for everything. And to that end the industry has created a large line of sedatives from Valium to Xanax. If you choose to utilize drugs for relief, please be sure to pay attention to the fine print and learn about the side effects, which commonly include addiction and dependency. Unfortunately, these types of drugs aim at treating the symptoms, but not the cause. So as soon as one stops ingesting them, the symptoms can come back.

A finer method to get rid of tension, stress, anxiety, and depression is to work on the root cause, which as I said previously, is generally our thought processes. There is the good news. Hypnosis is all about relaxation. The AMA accepted hypnosis in 1958 as an effective way to cure stress or stress related symptoms. Moreover unlike anxiolytics, there are totally no negative side effects.

When you are in hypnosis, you are in the Alpha level of consciousness. It’s the daydream like temporary psychological state that we experience as we’re just about to fall asleep at night. And we experience it once again when we awaken again. There are several different ways that will help us guide ourselves into this state of tranquility, from progressive relaxation to visual imagery to listening to hypnosis CD’s.

Once we access a hypnotic state, we can communicate with our unconscious mind, which is the seat of our feelings. And it becomes easier to acknowledge new points of view and ideas that will help us to dissipate anxiety, or even avoid it completely.

NLP, which is a recent sort of hypnotherapy, offers numerous excellent methods for getting rid of stress. Perhaps the technique that works best is called the “swish” pattern - or the “flash” pattern. When you use this method, your unconscious will automatically use negative, stress producing mental images, as triggers for tranquilizing mental images. Otherwise stated, your stressors will automatically cause relaxation!

TO SUM THINGS UP

Tension, stress, anxiety, and depression can be caused by our thoughts. So by changing our attitude and the way we feel about our situation and what we’ve experienced, we can dissipate these feelings at the source. Hypnosis and NLP are natural tools that we can use to help us change our attitude and point of view to swiftly dissipate the root cause of our negative feelings.

PostHeaderIcon How Women Can Manage Their Every Day Stresses And Anxieties

Some women have a difficult time in managing their every day stresses and anxieties. With this in mind, here is a brief list of techniques that some women can use to help manage their most persistent fears and every day anxieties.

When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, the first thing you can do is to divide the task into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.

Sometimes we get stressed out when everything happens all at once. When this happens, a person should take a deep breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get their mind off of the problem. A person could get some fresh air, listen to some music, or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things.

Another technique that is very helpful is to have a small notebook of positive statements that make you feel good. Whenever you come across an affirmation that makes you feel good, write it down in a small notebook that you can carry around with you in your pocket. Whenever you feel depressed or frustrated, open up your small notebook and read those statements. This will help to manage your negative thinking.

Learn to take it one day at a time. Instead of worrying about how you will get through the rest of the week, try to focus on today. Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems. You never know when the answers you are looking for will come to your doorstep. We may be ninety-nine percent correct in predicting the future, but all it takes is for that one percent to make a world of difference.

Take advantage of the help that is available around you. If possible, talk to a professional who can help you manage your depression and anxieties. They will be able to provide you with additional advice and insights on how to deal with your current problem. By talking to a professional, a person will be helping themselves in the long run because they will become better able to deal with their problems in the future. Remember that it never hurts to ask for help.

Dealing with our persistent fears is not easy. Remember that all you can do is to do your best each day, hope for the best, and take things in stride. Patience, persistence, education, and being committed in trying to solve your problem will go along way in fixing your problems.

PostHeaderIcon The Tell-tale Symptoms of Depression

People who may be suffering from depression or manic disorders actually exhibit or show each and every kind of symptom of depression that doctors will tell you that depressed people have. Sometimes it’s actually quite easy to overlook such symptoms and not be able to help one’s self or others who are suffering from depression for that matter.

There are actually a lot of symptoms of depression that depressed people may actually posses but they don’t have to suffer from each and every one of them before you actually help them get diagnosed and be treated for this illness. Also, since symptoms of depression actually vary, the time of their “attacks” varies as well.

Here are some common examples of symptoms of depression:

Prolonged period of sadness or not feeling “up to it,” people who are always feeling not in the mood, who’d rather mope around the house and feel sorry for one’s self is the best example for this symptom of depression.

Feels hopeless, perennial pessimist: speaking of feeling sorry for one’s self, another common symptom of depression is when a person actually feels like he/she has nothing to look forward to in his or her life. As for being the perennial pessimist, those who show this symptom of depression are usually very negative about things, again, the feeling of hopelessness comes in to mind.

Guilt-driven, loss of self-worth and helplessness: other symptoms of depression that can be easily seen on people who prefer to mope around all day long are these. Whenever a person feels so guilty over something, that actually makes one a very sad person who feels like he or she doesn’t deserve to be happy. Thus, the loss of self-worth, if that person feels like he or she isn’t worthy of being happy or enjoying one’s self then that’s clear tell-tale symptom of depression. Helplessness also contribute to being depressed, when assuming that things won’t simply go your way, it’s already a clear saying that you have absolutely no hope in your body at all.

Isn’t interested in finding or taking pleasure; just dropping the hobbies as well as the other things that one used to enjoy: this tell-tale symptom of depression just shows how depressed a person can be, if one is actually too sad to take pleasure even in the very things that one loves then that person is seriously lacking something, rather, that person might well have caught the depression bug.

Fatigue, always tired: people suffering from depression, since they’ve lost whatever interest in life that they may have had before are actually lacking of physical energy at all times, if one would prefer to just mope around, probably won’t even eat not get enough sleep, a depressed person may well be on their way to not just a mental illness but depression can actually be terrible for one’s physical health as well.

Having trouble concentrating, having bad memory and is indecisive: a person who is suffering from depression easily gives away this tell-tale symptom of depression. Wherein one’s lack of interest with regards to the outside world or for just about anything for that matter can lead to that person’s inability to lose track of things and actually not be able to remember things that happened or what other people said. Lack of interest actually makes depressed people very inattentive.

There are actually more symptoms of depression that can actually help you see if a person (or you) needs to be brought to the doctor to get some help when it comes to depression: lacking sleep, sleeping too much or waking up at wee hours of the morning are all symptoms of depression (if it happens on a daily basis), appetite loss as well as eating too much may show one’s lack of enthusiasm for life. Be weary of sudden weight loss or weight gain in those around you. Being suicidal, talking about death, about wanting to die is another clear indication that that person is depressed. Being restless and irritable and physical symptoms that are usually brought about by poor mental health such as headaches, digestive disorders and various body pains.

PostHeaderIcon There Are Ways To Deal With Our Fears And Anxieties

Do not give up in managing your fears and anxieties. You can overcome your fears and anxieties. Here is a brief list of techniques that a person can use to help manage their most persistent fears and every day anxieties.

Sometimes we get stressed out when everything happens all at once. A person should visualize a red stop sign in their mind when they encounter a fear provoking thought. When the negative thought comes, a person should think of a red stop sign that serves as a reminder to stop focusing on that thought and to think of something else. A person can then try to think of something positive to replace the negative thought.

Learn to take it one day at a time. Instead of worrying about how you will get through the rest of the week, try to focus on today. Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems. What we can be sure of is that our thoughts are the major cause of our experience of stress, anxiety and depression. In other words, what we think about, and our attitudes and the way we view our experiences create our feelings. So if we can learn how to alter our thoughts, attitudes, and points of view, we can release our feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression and change them for a better state of being.
Since the beginning of time, people have tried to find methods that would allow them to eliminate stress. With the pharmaceutical industry there seems to be a drug for everything. Tension, stress, anxiety, and depression can be triggered by our thoughts. Hypnosis and NLP are natural tools that allow us to change our attitude and point of view to rapidly eliminate the root cause of our negative feelings.

PostHeaderIcon How to Deal With Mild Depression the Smart Way

If you have been sad, losing appetite, and feeling a bit down lately, you probably are suffering from a mild form of depression. Do not worry; everybody feels this way once in a while. However, if you seem to be in a rut for quite a long time now, you probably need some help to boost your mood or lift your spirits.Booze, pills and wild partying could help keep your mind off your blues for a while, but this will not really do anything good for you in the long run. And neither would anti-depressant pills if you do not absolutely need them. What you can do to banish away your gloom is to use natural remedies to ease your symptoms and get back on your feet. Here are some nifty ways to beat depression:Do Some Lifestyle ChangesPeople who are feeling a little bit sad or depressed sometimes need to look at their lifestyle to determine if the things that they are doing are causing them to feel blue in the first place. Making sure you get a good dose of early morning sunshine most of the week, eating plenty of vegetables and fruits, staying away from sugar-rich foods, exercising regularly, making love more often, and quitting drinking and smoking are some of the things you ought to do to eliminate depression in your life.Put Some Upbeat Aroma In Your LifeStudies have shown that the mood of majority of individuals improves after smelling certain flower essences. If you are a bit stressed out or you need to clear your mind and rest, what you need is chamomile or lavender scents. To give you the energy to face a hectic day, the smell of peppermint or eucalyptus could easily wake you up and give you a zest for life. For those who want to be more optimistic and want to get back into the race of life, you can try using wild rose essences. Listen To Some MusicMany people take music for granted, but in reality sound and music therapy has been used for centuries to help lift one’s mood and even aid in the treatment of several conditions. This relatively safe therapy does not have any side effects, unless you put the volume to the maximum. According to scientific studies, the piano concertos of Mozart or the Vienna waltzes can truly change your mood for the better. If you are not into classical music, just look for pieces that have gentle or melodic rhythms, or upbeat and positive lyrics.Attract Sunshine Back To Your Life Through Magnet TherapyProponents of magnet therapy claim that stimulation of the brain through electromagnetism has been scientifically proven to be safe and effective. In fact, many users say that placing specific magnetic devices on both sides of your head or scalp can boost serotonin levels almost immediately. However, you should not do this therapy alone. You need to find a certified therapist or clinic that provides such services. Coupling magnetic therapy with acupuncture can also improve your mood faster.Take Herbal SupplementsInstead of popping synthetic drugs into your mouth, why not try natural supplements for depression and anxiety? Just make sure that the product you choose is made from all-natural ingredients that have been clinically found to be safe. Ingredients that you need to look for in an anti-depression supplement are 5-HTP (known to ease symptoms of depression and promote restful sleep), passionflower (effective in banishing anxiety), GABA (contains sedative and anticonvulsant properties), and valerian (ancient medication used to promote relaxation, better sleep and reduced stress). One supplement that has all these important ingredients is Serelax. If you want to know how Serelax can help you beat mild depression, simply visit http://www.serelax.com/.

PostHeaderIcon How To Maintain A Family, Job, And Our Anxieties

It is not easy to deal with your fears and anxieties while maintaining a family and job. It can be very tough to have to manage your anxieties while making a living and taking care of the kids. As a result, here are a few techniques on how you can become better at dealing with your fears, depression, and anxieties.

Learn to take it one day at a time. Instead of worrying about how you will get through the rest of the week or coming month, try to focus on today. Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems. Focus on the present and stop trying to predict what may happen next week. Next week will take care of itself.

Be smart in how you deal with your fears and anxieties when on the job or taking care of the kids. Do not try to tackle everything all at once. When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, break the task into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.

A good way to manage your anxiety is to challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense.

Sometimes, you may be nervous doing a certain task at your job or household. When this happens, visualize yourself doing the task in your mind. For instance, you and your team have to play in the championship game in front of a large group of people in the next few days. Before the big day comes, imagine yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that you are playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game in your mind, you will be better prepared to perform for real when the time comes. Self-Visualization is a great way to reduce the fear and stress of a coming situation.

Do not let your anxieties get the best of you. A technique that is very helpful is to have a small notebook of positive statements that make us feel good. Whenever you come across an affirmation that makes you feel good, write it down in a small notebook that you can carry around with you in your pocket. Whenever you feel anxious and stressed, open up your small notebook and read those statements.

Sometimes we encounter a scary situation that gets us all upset. When encountering these events, always remember to get all of the facts of the given situation. Gathering the facts can prevent us from relying on exaggerated and fearful assumptions. By focusing on the facts, a person can rely on what is reality and what is not.

The next time you become overwhelmed with everything, remember that there is hope in overcoming your anxieties and depression. The key is to be patient and not to give up. In time, you will be able to find those resources that will help you with your problems.

PostHeaderIcon The Naturopathic Way to Combat Insomnia, Stress, Restlessness and Anxiety, Plus Many Other Common Psychological Problems

A total 41% of American workers interviewed reported an increase in work stress on their jobs compared to a year earlier.   Another poll taken among Americans showed that more than one half of the respondents (58%) reported having experienced insomnia at least a few nights a week.   This is a trend in American health, where we are seeing many common psychological problems such as stress and insomnia moving to an epidemic stage (epidemic means 1 in 4 have the ailment).

Why have these psychological problems reached epidemic numbers?   There are many reasons for stress, insomnia, restlessness and anxiety, such as significant personal events, like losing a job, marital problems, money worries and generally worrying.   Other causes can include physical illness that causes pain, depression, shift work, caffeine or alcohol consumption, and medication side-effects.   Each one is a drain on your nutritional support system, this is a scientific fact.

The drain on your nutritional support system is the common thread here which runs through all of these problems.   What do I mean when I say drain on your nutritional support system?   I mean that each one of those problems burns up large amounts of your B vitamins and minerals.   Those B vitamins and minerals are your nutritional support and if they get low the problems you are experiencing will seem to grow in number and severity.

That nutritional support system is the foundation from which you handle everyday problems.   When that foundation is supporting you; you feel more confident and you handle your everyday troubles and crises with ease and consideration.   If you are not supported, you may handle the problem, but you feel the physical and emotional drain on your body and mind.   Then where is the next problem/crises coming from; this is the modern world with plenty of them to spare, you need support.

Are you experiencing some of the symptoms of a drained nutritional support system, stress, anxiety, insomnia or restlessness?   Well do not expect your body to run trouble free without replacing the nutrition in that system.   Not replenishing that system is like expecting your car to run without oil.   Look below at the different B vitamins and see the symptoms you can acquire due to their deficiencies, all scientifically proven.

Why can’t we just get our vitamins from our diet?   You just have to look around you to see the evidence that the majority of Americans have no idea what a good diet is (see article “America Is Number One, The Fattest Industrialized Country In The World”).   At every turn in our society we are, in fact, encouraged to eat foods that have almost no nutritional value by the media.   Most markets do not offer us much of a choice.  The food is refined, irradiated or poorly grown at the farm; all three destroying the nutritional value of the food.   The very people who are supposed to protect our health instead defend the manufacturer and spin the information so much they are confusing.   They even make laws to stop anyone from saying that to eat certain whole foods might prevent or cure you of many diseases, even though it is true.

I have been involved with naturopathic medicine and nutrition for over 20 years and I find it difficult to find whole foods that are truly nutritional in any market or restaurant.   The odds are stacked against you having any better luck than I do.   So I supplement to make sure that I keep a balance of B vitamins and minerals beyond what I eat and I suggest you do the same thing.   Why allow yourself and your family to be caught up in the same health crisis you see everywhere today.

Important Note: Basic law of nature and another scientific fact (see article, “The Truth About Vitamins”), if your B Stress formula is not from food you cannot absorb it!   It is a big basic law of nature; we depend on plants for our nutrition.   If your vitamin supplement does not say the words somewhere on the label “Whole Food Vitamins”, “Made From Whole Foods” or “Food Vitamins”.   Do not waste your money on it because it is synthetic and you cannot absorb it.

Below Are What Your Stress B Vitamin Supplement Should Contain In A Whole Food Form.   Plus, The Problems A Deficiency Of Each Vitamin And Mineral Can Cause.

Managing fear and anxiety takes a lot of practice. Here are a few reminders on how you can become better at dealing with your fears, depression, and anxieties.

In every anxiety-related situation you experience, begin to learn what works, what does not work, and what you need to improve on in managing your fears and anxieties. For instance, you have a lot of anxiety and you decide to take a walk to help you feel better. The next time you feel anxious you can remind yourself that you got through it the last time by taking a walk. This will give you the confidence to manage your anxiety the next time around.

Challenge your negative thinking with positive statements and realistic thinking. When encountering thoughts that make your fearful or anxious, challenge those thoughts by asking yourself questions that will maintain objectivity and common sense. For example, you are afraid that if you do not get that job promotion then you will be stuck at your job forever. This depresses you, however your thinking in this situation is unrealistic. The fact of the matter is that there all are kinds of jobs available and just because you do not get this job promotion does not mean that you will never get one. In addition, people change jobs all the time, and you always have that option of going elsewhere if you are unhappy at your present location. Changing your thinking can help you manage your fears.

Sometimes, we may be nervous doing a certain task that may be scary. When this happens, visualize yourself doing the task in your mind. For instance, you and your team have to play in the championship hockey game in front of a large group of people in the next few days. Before the big day comes, imagine yourself playing the game in your mind. Imagine that your playing in front of a large audience. By playing the game in your mind, you will be better prepared to perform for real when the time comes. Self-Visualization is a great way to reduce the fear and stress of a coming situation.

When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, divide the task into a series of smaller steps and then complete each of the smaller tasks one at a time. Completing these smaller tasks will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.

Take advantage of the help that is available around you. If possible, talk to a professional who can help you manage your fears and anxieties. They will be able to provide you with additional advice and insights on how to deal with your current problem. By talking to a professional, a person will be helping themselves in the long run because they will become better able to deal with their problems in the future. Managing your fears and anxieties takes practice. The more you practice, the better you will become.

Remember that sometimes our worrying and fears can make the problem even worse. Take things in stride and try not focus too much on the problem. Patience, persistence, education, and being committed in trying to solve your problem will go along way in fixing your problems. In time, you will find the ways to overcome your phobias.
