One of the worst things about a panic attack is that its symptoms often mirror other health conditions, so it might take a while for you to realize that your suffering is caused by anxiety and nervousness and you might not receive the proper treatment. Even if you have never suffered from a panic attack before, it is important that you learn about the symptoms of an attack. This way, should you start exhibiting any of these symptoms you can ask yourself if they are related to your mental or your physical health?

Here is a list of the most common panic attack symptoms

· Chest pain

· Feeling light headed or dizzy

· Feeling intense fear of losing control

· Feeling intense fear of embarrassment

· Feeling like you have lost touch with your surroundings (or the people in them)

· An impending feeling of doom or that something terrible is going to happen

· Feeling like you are about to die

· Heart palpitations

· Heart beats too fast

· Pounding heartbeat

· Cold or hot flashes

· Sweating

· Trembling

· Upset or uncomfortable stomach

· Nausea or Diarrhea

· Tingling or numbness in your feet or hands

· Tingling lips and or/numbness around your mouth

· The feeling of being suffocated

· Hyperventilation

· Cramping and/or curling of fingers and toes

Many of these symptoms are associated with other physical conditions like a heart attack or the stomach flu. When you start to feel these symptoms it is important that you learn how to take a step back and ask yourself why you might be feeling these symptoms. Learn some relaxation techniques and practice them when you feel the onset of panic attack symptoms. If the symptoms go away, you were having a panic attack. If there is still pain or discomfort (but you no longer feel out of control), you are likely having a physical problem and should see a doctor.

If you have a relative that suffers from panic or anxiety attacks on a regular basis, it is likely that you will also experience them in your lifetime as well. Of course, the only person who can diagnose you with an anxiety disorder is a mental health professional. If you think that you might be at risk for an anxiety disorder or you start to notice panic attack symptoms happening on a regular basis, you should find a good counselor.

Together you, your counselor, your friends and your family can work to figure out the best way to help you prevent as well as work through an attack. It is very important that you tell your friends and family about the panic attack symptoms so that they can be on the alert for them. Sometimes you might not be able to calm yourself down, but another person will have success.

Learning to recognize the signs and the symptoms is the best way to stay in control of your anxiety.

Statistics in the past year, indicated between 10 to 12 % people suffered some form of panic attack. Some the most common related terms are given in the list below.

- General Anxiety Disorder
- Panic Attack Disorder
- Anxiety Panic Disorder
- Peformance Anxiety
- Anxiety Disorder
- Social Anxiety Disorder

Panic attacks make up the number-one problem facing men and women and is second only to alcohol and drug-related problem. As a reponse to stressful situations, like examinations, public speaking, worry of layoffs, up goes anxiety. Such heightened disorder, has become a normal occurrence affecting one out of three persons in the past year.

Symtoms of Anxiety Panic Disorder
Panic attack disorder symptoms include shortness of breath, a choking feeling, heart palpitations, sweating, shaking and trembling, chest pains, dizziness, hot flashes or cold chills, feeling of unreality (such as being in a fog, on the moon, in mid air), and fear of dying, or losing control.

Panic attacks which can come unexpectedly, with at least six or seven of the symptoms you have just read, escalates quickly will subsides within minutes. On the other hand, anxiety panic disorder builds up gradually and is not sudden and unexpected, symptoms are fewer and milder.

Anxiety Panic Disorder is an emergency response

In general anxiety disorder is not that bad though. It keeps us primed, as if it trains us to be always on our toes. It also keeps us psychologically alert, an emergency response. Proper exercises can be good to ensure things may start to get nasty.

When we are engulfed in our ‘panic room’, we have one of two choices. We can either face it or get away from it. This is better known as the “fight” or “flight” response. Given a choice, would you face it and experience its full impact, or would you rather retreat or run away from it?

If we equate panic to fear (the two are similar in a lot of ways), the easy way out is to avoid it. But there is always a great chance (and you can be sure of it) that it will haunt you again and again. Whatever that fear is, literally speaking, this will keep you on the run and you will always be checking and looking behind you, cowering from it. The more you run away from it, the more it will chase you and make fun of you. It will be like a ghost running after you!

Given this kind of a situation, it is apparently more logical to face panic attacks. But do not “fight” the symptoms of any attack. Try to “flow” with the symptoms and allow yourself to become calm. Keep reminding yourself that what you are experiencing is a natural emergency response.

The more experiences you get out of it, the more confident you become. And when you are confident, what you used to fear will not make you fearful anymore. You will get immune to it. The more instances you are able to handle it, the more capable you will be each time it occurs, like practice. Practice makes perfect. In the end, you will perfect the art of handling your condition, from fearing it to handling it remarkably in a positive way. That’s an achievement.

Now, let’s go back to the point where you still dread panic attacks with a question you might raise that goes: “Just how am I supposed to face a anxiety panic disorder knowing all too well it might subdue and eat me out of my guts?” The answer: “You don’t do anything about it. Just let it be. Let it run its entire course and just experience it”. But then you may ask: “What if I don’t survive it?” The answer: “You will definitely survive it.

Keep this in mind. This experience is a state of mind, an apprehension. It is just imagined. There is no way a person will experience a brush on something like a heart attack, a coma, or even death because this condition is not life threatening. There is never a recorded case of a person who has died as a result of anxiety. Rest your mind to the fact that this condition is not a physical ailment, even with the physical manifestations like sweating, palpitations, stomach cramps, and all that. You will be able to face and experience its full impact without any life-threatening effects. Bring it on”. This is the attitude you must adopt the next time you have a bout with it.

Say silently inside your head “I am becoming calm….It’s a matter of minutes only. I can handle it as I have handled it before. . .I am calm and steady. ” Like we must always believe, “if you think you can - then you can”.

Thank you for reading.

Panic and anxiety attacks are problems that affect a large number of people. They can be somewhat scary but for most people they are relatively mild and don’t occur all that often. A panic attack may happen a few times, but it is usually not a chronic problem.
Panic disorders, on the other hand, can be much more severe. People who suffer from these disorders live in constant fear and anxiety, for ongoing periods of time.
The symptoms of isolated panic attacks and chronic disorder are much the same. A disorder is more difficult to deal with because part of what makes it worse is the constant worrying about when the next attack will come. This makes the attack that much more severe, and the viscious cycle continues to get worse.
Panic disorder needs to be treated as quickly as possible. If it isn’t treated properly, it will continue to escalate and can lead to a condition called agoraphobia, where the sufferer remains housebound because of their fear of having an attack while in public situations.
These panic disorders affect a wide age group. They can show up in the teenage years right through adulthood. Major stresses or changes in a person’s life can sometimes trigger them. The effects of panic can range from mild to very serious, in some cases causing social withdrawal and the earlier mentioned agoraphobia.
Symptoms of both panic attacks and panic disorders include the following:
- Chest pains
- Dizziness and/or lightheadedness
- Elevated heartbeat
- Shortness of breath
- Nausea and other stomach problems
- Shaking or trembling
- Difficulty breathing
- Tingling sensation in your extremeties
Panic disorders also often include the following symptoms:
- Lingering worry
- Fear of the next panic attack
- Depression
- Social withdrawal
While the symptoms of panic attacks and disorders are similar, the effect they can have on a person’s life is vastly different. In either case, however, it is best to discuss the problem with your doctor. They will be able to give you a more thorough diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment plan.

There are many individuals today who suffer from depression. Most of them suffer in silence, trying to hide the way that they feel from those close to them, as they fear being judged or embarrassed. This is especially true in today’s competitive society where suffering from such a condition may make one look weak. As such, to prevent yourself from being caught in such situations, it is crucial that you know the top depression treating techniques to manage and overcome such problems.
Exercise
Doing aerobic exercises does not only make you healthy physically, it is also documented to increase and stimulate endorphins produced in your body. Endorphins are compounds that are produced within the pituitary gland when strenuous exercises such as aerobics are done.
Endorphins are the compounds that give us a sense of well being and help us remain happy. Many clinical experts have found that majority of clinically depressed individuals lack endorphins in their system. This lack of endorphins can be directly linked to experiencing signs of depression. When you boost endorphin production in the body, you will feel better and happier etc. As such, exercising effectively helps to boost endorphin production in the system, thus helping one overcome depression with a feeling of contentment.
Social Support System
We all need to have a good social support system. That’s what friends are for! Family and friends are there for us to reach out to when we need help. If you are experiencing depression, then you need to ensure that you stay socially active. One of the signs of depression is avoiding people, but this is one of the last things you should do. By staying around people and sharing with them your fears and problems, you are actually fighting depression effectively.
Talking It Out
Whether it is with your friends, family, an external support group, or counselor, talking it out is a very effective way of treating depression. If you are unable to share your problems with others, they will usually accumulate and your condition will worsen in time to come. Thus, doing so only leads to greater feelings of hopelessness and depression. As such, it is crucial that you are willing to step out and share your thoughts will others without the fear of being judged or looked down upon.
Prescribed Medication
Today, it is very easy to get prescribed medication for depression. In fact, it might be too easy to get a pill that is supposed to cure someone of depression, such that many may even abuse it. In most cases, all you need to do is tell your family doctor that you have been feeling down and emotionally drained recently, and he will be more than happy to give you a prescribed dosage of what you need.
Anti-depressants are one of the most overly prescribed medications in America. Most of these anti-depressants are only supposed to be used as a last resort when other treatments are not working. Usually, these medications are only used when the depression becomes so severe that other forms of treatment are not able to have any effects on the patient.
Unfortunately, there are many people taking these medications who are not diagnosed to be “clinically” depressed. As such, you should always seek professional advice and consult a doctor to properly diagnose what is the best cure for you. This will be effective for you in the long run if your case requires the use of it. Furthermore, be cautioned that many of the anti-depressants on the market today have side-effects that could vary in severity depending on each individual. So make sure that you are informed of all the potential effects that consuming them could have on you so as to have optimum effects.
Most anti-depressants should not be consumed over extended periods as it is unhealthy for the body to over rely on it. This could even lead to serious complications later and require higher dosages of medication as the body has already been accustomed to it.
There are healthier ways of treating depression and anxiety disorders without using prescription medications as a first choice. As such, before consuming them, try several of the above mentioned techniques that have proven to work for millions in treating depression.
To treat depression effectively, it is up to you to start exercising and becoming more socially active. This is because doing so will only allow you to feel a lot better about your life. These top depression treating techniques revealed are widely used by people today, so try them out to see a change in your life now.

All forms of depression are basically categorized as medical related. There are many stages to depression. It begins with mild depression, with bi-polar disorders or manic depression in the middle, to the top rung of major depression. Depression is no doubt considered a disease. Although it is a mental illness it is no different than heart disease or lung disease. It is a disease that affects one of the bodily organs. You aren’t somehow less just because you have depression. You aren’t crazy if you have it. It’s a disease that needs attention.

To begin depression is invisible. People get sad sometimes. When things don’t go our way we get down in the dumps. This alone does not constitute depression. Depression is not a situation where you are depressed temporarily. Depression sticks with you for a long time. If the depressed mood seems to linger week after week and begins to affect your daily life than that is a sure sign of depression . If your mood changes with the wind and you can be up one minute and down the next than you are certainly showing signs of depression. If you are suffering from consistent insomnia or bad eating habits, these are also sure tell signs.

Medical depression is often difficult to tag. A variety of possibilities and causes have to be examined. Stress is a major factor in depression. There is so much stress in our lives today. Relationships bring stress. We confront stress everyday as we try to conduct our financial obligations. It seems the bills always over take the money you have coming in. Medical depression often results from the stress involved in child rearing. Some forms of medical depression come on after losing a loved one. It becomes even more complex when you consider biological and environmental factors, as well as DNA.

The positive result is that there are cures for medical depression. 17 million people nation wide are affected with medical depression yearly. 2/3 of those will never seek medical attention. Without diagnosis there can’t be a cure. Talk therapy as well as medications and natural herbs can treat it. There are also many different support groups that allow you to associate with those who suffer and feel the same as you do. It’s not wise to go it alone when dealing with medical depression. It will not heal itself. If you or anyone you love is showing signs of battling medical depression seek medical help immediately.

I hope this information will help. If you want to more information of the above subject, you can follow my series of articles and Visit This Site To Relieve From Depression

In women, menstruation plays an important role in depression. Apart from this their heavy social responsibilities are also therefore well known for the same. Definition of depression This disorder is known as vishaada in Ayurveda.

Last year, there were some 40 million Americans treated for anxiety and panic disorders. If you are one of the many who are experiencing sever panic attacks on a regular basis, there are treatment options available that can reduce or eliminate the panic attacks. Don’t let panic attacks rule your life any longer. Read on to learn about some of the panic attack medications available.
The most commonly prescribed panic attack medication is one of the various forms of antidepressants. These medications help to keep your anxiety and stress levels down to a manageable level. They also help with any depression conditions you may have, which is not uncommon in anxiety disorder patients. There is a chemical imbalance in your brain that is responsible for the magnified effects of everyday stresses. Two main neurotransmitters (serotonin and norepinephrine) are related to your mood, and these are the chemicals targeted by antidepressants.
While most antidepressants work by correcting the levels of these neurotransmitters in your brain, how they go about it can be completely different from product to product. The panic attack medications Zoloft, Paxil, and Prozac are all selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, and Ativan are all a class of antidepressant called benzodiazapines. Norpramin, Anafranil, and Tofranil are tricyclic antidepressants. Parnate and Nardil are both monomine oxidase inhibitors. These last two types are prescribed much more rarely nowadays than the first two classifications of antidepressant. Knowing what type of antidepressant you are currently taking is very important, as some other medications, even over-the-counter ones, can react badly with certain classes of antidepressant. Always ask your doctor about any possible drug interactions.
All of these panic attack medications, while usually quite effective, can have some unpleasant side effects. Usually these side effects are most pronounced if your dosage is too high, they can occur at any dosage. The more common side effects of antidepressants include: dry mouth, constipation, dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, blurred vision, sexual problems, nausea, heart palpitations, racing heart, weight gain, nightmares, insomnia, and nervousness. While some of these side effects may be better than having panic attacks, if they are too much they can cause more stress than the medications relieve. If at any time you feel that the side effects are just too much, you should discuss changing your medication with your doctor.
Remember, everyone is different. All medication do not effect everybody the same way. What works for one person may not work for you, and it can take time and effort to find the panic attack medications that work best for you. Your doctor may have to change your panic attack medication several times, but with so many different antidepressant and dosages available to try odds are good that you will find the medications that work for you. And once you have found the panic attack medications that best control your symptoms, don’t stop taking them just because you are feeling better. The medicines just deal with the symptoms, they are not a final cure for your panic disorder.

While in a relationship, you are bound to suffer from lots of stress. This is because there are very many stressors when it comes to a marital union or a love union. Problems related with love relationships are very many and, people are constantly dealing with issues that are enough to cause depression. Depression is a killer and, it is vital for you to realize the dangers of being depressed. Relationships are about love and this love can easily turn into hate and, depression is just on the door knocking. In our modern fast paced lives, there are very many things that will cause stress and depression to us and, it is vital for us not to entertain those that we can do something about. It is very possible to deal with stress and avoid depression while in relationships. All you have to do is have some few guidelines on how to live healthy as a couple. The following pointers will enable you escape that trap of being depressed. Depression in relationships is something that you can easily avoid. It is all about being positive. Depression in relationships can come because you are always looking at the worse case scenario. Life will smile at those who make a deliberate effort to love it. Your negativity will eat you and your relationship. It really does not matter what kind of a problem you are going through; just be positive no matter what happens and you will escape the yoke of depression. There are relationships that will not work and it is good to be clear on this. If you are in an abusive relationship where you are beaten and threatened, this is by no means true love. There is a difference between love and exploitation. Many people are in relationships with people who are sick mentally. When you have a lunatic for a partner, you will sing the same tune. You will become just like them. Therefore, look for a relationship that is healthy and escape stress and depression. Depression in relationships needs to be avoided at all cost because it will destroy your life. However, there are people who feel like they cannot find another person to love them. When you reach this point, it shows that you have some internal issues which you need to deal with. You need to work on your self esteem and you will need professional help.Depression in relationships is brought about by problems which are unresolved. As a couple, you need to address every issue that may be pending. This is the only way to overcome challenges. If you feel like you are in a wrong relationship, it is not time to hide in your shell; you need to face your feelings and know how you are feeling. If you need to let out a good scream, go ahead and do so; just be true to yourself. If you love your partner enough to continue with the relationship, seek professional help and you will be in a position to explore the root cause of your problem. Remember, when you feel stressed, you need to deal effectively with it; without passing it on to the next day.

When someone is depressed it is difficult to locate one cause for the problem because it may be multi fold.
Depression occurs when something is affecting the neurotransmitters in our brain that makes us feel good. Clinical depression is more severe than just feeling down. A doctor or other professional can diagnose clinical depression. Your diet can affect your mood and deficiencies in certain nutrients can lead to depression. A change in your diet could be your depression cure. Professional to determine what vitamins or minerals you are lacking can use your symptoms and blood level essays.
Fad diets why they are bad is because they do not deliver the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy and feel good. Dieting like this could be linked with depression. Fad diets should be avoided.
Nutritional deficiencies have been linked to depression. A ‘junk food’ diet consisting of too many carbohydrates and certain sugars can lead to depression. On the other hand these foods give us short boosts of serotonin (one of the neurotransmitters in depression). This short boost of energy however, will lead to a crash. It can become an addictive cycle and this makes depression worse. You can become addicted to sweets for example, because you are trying to make yourself feel better. A lose-lose situation.
Magnesium deficiency can affect your mood and contribute to depression and anxiety. Magnesium deficiencies can cause physical symptoms as well including heart palpitations, migraines, fibromyalgia, and TMJ (Tempo mandibular joint disorder).
Depression has been linked to deficiencies in omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin B, vitamin C, zinc, and tryptophan. Vitamin D has also been linked to depression. Other essential vitamins and minerals linked with depression include calcium, niacin, biotin, iodine, potassium and manganese.
Vitamin B supplements have been used to treat depression symptoms. These include vitaminB-1 (thiamine), B-6 (pyridoxine), B-12 and folic acid. Other supplements that can be used to with depression are SamE, Tyrosine, GABA, omega3 fatty acids, Lethicin, Calcium and Zinc.
Supplements may be a way toward your depression cure, but where do you start? Supplements can be dangerous if you do not use them correctly. You can start with a good multivitamin that contains essential vitamins and minerals.
Supplements may not be necessary; you may just need to change your diet. Eat a well balanced diet including adequate amounts of fruits, vegetables, dairy products, protein and fats. Your protein source should contain fresh water fish, not seafood, a couple times a week. You can get the omega-3 fatty acids from fish.
Eating all natural foods has been suggested for treating depression. All natural foods have no additives or preservatives, often called organic foods. Many Co-op shops carry all natural foods. Some big grocery chains have natural food selections.
Another dietary hint is not to eat protein, or eat very little protein, with your carbohydrates. Carbohydrates increase the serotonin level in the brain. Eat three meals a day and incorporate snacks in between them. This will keep your energy up and help fight depression. Eating more protein from meat and less carbohydrates
has been shown to help.
In our busy lives it is hard to eat healthy because it is easier to grab junk food or fast food, when you are on the run. To eat a well balanced diet you need to prepare ahead of time. Pack healthy snacks and bring water with you. Try to drink eight to ten glasses of water for adequate hydration and fluid balance as well as flushing out body toxins.
Exercise has been shown to elevate mood. Try to incorporate exercise in to your lifestyle at least three times a week. Make exercise fun; include your family or a friend in your activity. Walking the dog for twenty minutes is all you may need to do. Exercise does make you feel better and you will come to look forward to it. Join a public gym or take exercise classes. Just getting out to exercise and being among people may be your depression cure.
Talk to your doctor and a dietician before starting any dietary supplement program. Study what supplements can do and make sure you buy them from a good source. Ask questions at nutritional stores. Eating healthy may be all you need. If your depression does not get better, you should seek psychiatric help.
